Well…mostly good news.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Café appears to be coming back on November 2, 2026, after spending several months closed for refurbishment. Disney hasn’t actually issued a big announcement saying, “Hey everyone, Grand Floridian Café is reopening November 2!”

Instead, Disney did what Disney sometimes does and quietly let the dining reservation calendar do the talking.

November 2 Is the Date to Circle

Grand Floridian Café has been closed since July 20, 2026, as part of a refurbishment that Disney originally said would keep the restaurant closed through October.

Now, guests can make dining reservations beginning November 2.

The reservation system is also showing dinner hours beginning that day, which is a pretty strong indication that Disney is targeting November 2 as the reopening date.

So while I wouldn’t engrave the date on a commemorative plaque just yet, November 2 is looking very, very real.

And considering we’re talking about Disney World, where refurbishment schedules can occasionally have all the stability of a toddler with a Mickey ice cream bar, I’ll still leave a tiny bit of room for the date to change.

Why Has Grand Floridian Café Been Closed So Long?

This hasn’t been a quick little “close it for a few days and slap on some fresh paint” project.

Grand Floridian Café has been undergoing a multi-month refurbishment, and the restaurant’s closure has been part of the larger collection of updates happening around Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

Disney’s official information says the café is closed from mid-July through October for refurbishment. Other areas of the Grand Floridian are also continuing to receive renovations, including work around the covered entrance that is expected to continue into early 2027.

So if you’re visiting the Grand Floridian right now, don’t be surprised if you see a little construction activity around the resort.

Because apparently even one of Disney World’s fanciest resorts occasionally needs a little maintenance.

Grand Floridian Café Is a Pretty Big Deal to Some Disney Fans

I’ll admit it: Grand Floridian Café doesn’t get the same attention as Victoria & Albert’s, Narcoossee’s or Cítricos.

It’s not supposed to.

That’s actually part of its charm.

Grand Floridian Café has traditionally been the more relaxed table-service option at the resort. It’s elegant without being stuffy, and it’s a place where you can sit down for a meal without feeling like you’ve just committed to a three-hour dining experience.

It’s also incredibly convenient if you’re spending time at Magic Kingdom.

You can leave the park, hop on the monorail or take the walking path over to the Grand Floridian, have a proper meal, enjoy a little air conditioning and then decide whether you have enough energy to go back and fight the crowds.

That makes it especially useful on those long Magic Kingdom days when everyone in your group has reached the “I don’t care where we eat, just feed me” stage.

Brunch Has Been Moved to Cítricos

Disney didn’t completely leave Grand Floridian guests without a brunch option while the café has been closed.

During the refurbishment, brunch has temporarily moved over to Cítricos.

Disney’s current information lists that temporary arrangement through October, giving guests staying at the Grand Floridian another option while they wait for the café to return.

It’s a slightly fancier place to grab brunch than Grand Floridian Café, but hey, if Disney wants to tell me that brunch at Cítricos is an acceptable consolation prize, I’m not going to argue.

What Will Grand Floridian Café Look Like When It Reopens?

And here’s where I’m getting curious.

Disney hasn’t provided a detailed preview of exactly what guests should expect from the refurbishment.

That’s what makes the November reopening particularly interesting.

Is Disney simply refreshing the restaurant while keeping the existing look and feel? Are we getting a more substantial update? Will there be changes to the dining room, décor or menu?

Right now, we don’t have all those answers.

And honestly, I’m okay with that.

Sometimes it’s more fun to walk into a refurbished Disney restaurant and see what’s changed instead of having every detail spoiled six months ahead of time.

November Is Actually a Pretty Great Time to Bring It Back

The timing of this potential reopening is interesting because November is when Walt Disney World starts shifting into full holiday mode.

The parks are getting busier, the Christmas decorations are going up and the Grand Floridian becomes one of those places people visit specifically because they want to soak up the holiday atmosphere.

Having Grand Floridian Café back in the mix would give guests another casual dining option right when the resort is about to get very busy.

And let’s be honest: there are worse things than having dinner at the Grand Floridian and then wandering through the lobby looking at the Christmas decorations.

Actually, I’m struggling to think of many.

So, Can You Start Planning for November 2?

Yes—with a small asterisk.

I’d absolutely keep November 2 on your Disney planning radar. Reservations are already appearing for that date, and the timing lines up with Disney’s previously announced refurbishment window.

But because Disney hasn’t separately announced November 2 as the official reopening date, I’d still treat it as the current target rather than a guarantee.

If you’re visiting in November or later, though, this is definitely a restaurant worth watching.

One More Grand Floridian Favorite Is Coming Back

Grand Floridian Café may not be the flashiest restaurant at Walt Disney World, but that’s exactly why a lot of Disney fans love it.

It’s comfortable. It’s relatively relaxed. It’s beautiful without requiring you to make an entire event out of dinner.

And after being closed since July, its return will be a welcome one.

So for now, I’m putting November 2 on the calendar—with the traditional Disney-sized asterisk.

If everything stays on schedule, Grand Floridian Café should be ready to welcome guests back just as Disney World heads into one of the most magical—and busiest—times of the year.

And I’ll be very interested to see what Disney has been doing in there all these months.

Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill is closing permanently at Disney Springs, and if you’ve been meaning to try it—or you’re one of those people who has a favorite Disney Springs restaurant you visit every trip—you don’t have much time left.

The restaurant’s final day of operation is Sunday, September 13, 2026.

And perhaps the strangest part of the whole thing? Disney hasn’t announced what’s going into the space next.

Wolfgang Puck Is Leaving Disney Springs

Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill is located in the Town Center area of Disney Springs, across from Planet Hollywood. The restaurant opened in November 2018 and seats roughly 250 guests.

The concept brought California-inspired cooking with Mediterranean influences to Disney Springs, along with pizzas, pasta, steaks, seafood, cocktails and other upscale-but-not-too-formal dishes.

And that was really part of the appeal.

It was a nice place to have an actual sit-down dinner without feeling like you needed to turn the occasion into a whole production. You could dress up a little, order a cocktail, have a proper meal and then wander around Disney Springs afterward.

Which is exactly the kind of restaurant Disney Springs needs.

Apparently, Disney Springs has other plans.

This Isn’t Really the End of Wolfgang Puck’s Disney History

Here’s where things get a little more interesting.

While Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill has only been at Disney Springs since 2018, Wolfgang Puck has been part of the dining scene here for much, much longer.

Wolfgang Puck Grand Cafe opened on the West Side in 1997, back when the entire complex was still called Downtown Disney.

That restaurant eventually closed in 2017, with the space later becoming home to Jaleo by José Andrés.

There was also a Wolfgang Puck Express location in the Marketplace, which operated for years before closing in October 2020. That space is now home to eet by Maneet Chauhan.

So when Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill closes in September, it won’t just be another restaurant disappearing from Disney Springs.

It will mark the end of Wolfgang Puck’s nearly three-decade presence at the complex.

Why Is Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill Closing?

This is the part where I wish I had a nice, tidy answer for you.

I don’t.

No reason for the closure has been announced.

There’s been no explanation about whether the decision came from the restaurant operator, Disney, a lease situation or something else entirely. And Disney hasn’t announced what will replace the restaurant in Town Center.

Which means, for now, we’ve got a pretty large restaurant space sitting in one of the busiest areas of Disney Springs with a giant question mark hanging over it.

And if you’ve followed Disney Springs for any length of time, you know how quickly that question mark can turn into an entirely different restaurant.

You Still Have Time for One Last Meal

If Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill is on your Disney Springs list, September 13 is the date to remember.

The restaurant will serve its final guests that Sunday before closing permanently.

And I wouldn’t wait until the last minute if you’re hoping to squeeze in one final meal.

Once Disney fans hear that a favorite restaurant has a firm closing date, reservations have a funny way of disappearing. Suddenly everyone who has spent the last eight years saying, “We really should try that place sometime” decides that this is the weekend.

That’s just how Disney works.

What Happens to the Space Next?

This is the part I’m going to be watching.

Disney has not announced a replacement for Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill, so there’s nothing official to report yet.

But we’re talking about a sizable restaurant in the middle of Disney Springs. It isn’t exactly a tiny kiosk that can sit empty while Disney figures things out.

So I’m very curious about what Disney eventually decides belongs here.

Will we get another celebrity chef? A completely new Disney-owned concept? Another major restaurant brand? Or something nobody sees coming?

That’s the fun—and occasionally frustrating—part of Disney Springs.

One More Goodbye at Disney Springs

I’m always a little torn when a Disney restaurant closes.

On one hand, change is part of Walt Disney World. New restaurants mean new food, new experiences and occasionally something that becomes an instant favorite.

But there’s also something special about having restaurants that have been part of your Disney routine for years.

Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill may not have been around as long as some of the other Disney Springs staples, but the Wolfgang Puck name has been part of this corner of Walt Disney World since the 1990s.

That’s a pretty good run.

So if you’ve been putting off trying Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill, you’ve officially run out of excuses. September 13 is coming, and after that, it’ll be another piece of Disney Springs history.

We’ve already got Halloween parties, the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, seasonal decorations, pumpkin everything and enough limited-time merchandise to fill a small storage unit. Naturally, Disney’s next move was to give us a whole new list of things to eat.

And honestly? I’m not mad about it.

Disney just announced a huge lineup of new treats and drinks coming to Walt Disney World this fall, and there is a LOT happening here. We’re talking specialty waffles and pancakes, churros, frozen slushes, milkshakes, specialty beverages and cocktails.

Some of these sound genuinely fantastic. Others sound like someone was standing in a Disney kitchen saying, “Okay, but what if we put one more thing on it?”

Breakfast Is About to Get Very Interesting

If you thought Mickey waffles were already pretty hard to improve upon, Disney would like a word.

Over at Landscape of Flavors at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, guests will be able to try Birthday Cake Mickey Waffles and Birthday Cake Mickey Pancakes. They’re topped with birthday cake custard, cake crumbles, rainbow sprinkles, bacon and sausage.

Because apparently we have reached the point where Mickey waffles need to have their own birthday party.

At Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter, Port Orleans Riverside and Disney’s Pop Century Resort, guests can find Strawberry Mickey Waffles and Strawberry Pancakes served with vanilla custard.

Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort is getting Caramel-Banana Waffles and Pancakes, while Disney’s All-Star Music Resort will offer Fruit Cereal Waffles and Pancakes.

And then there’s Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort, where the Candy Bar Waffles and Pancakes are coming in hot with cookie bar pieces, caramel and chocolate sauce.

Look, I’m not saying you should eat dessert for breakfast. I’m just saying Disney appears to have removed the legal obstacles.

Disney Is Doing Some Serious Things to the Churro

Disney’s relationship with the churro has officially entered its experimental phase.

At Sunshine Seasons in EPCOT, the Churro Strawberry Shortcake Sundae combines churro loops with strawberry soft serve, strawberry compote, whipped cream and cake crumble.

That one might be dangerous. In the best possible way.

Over at the Isle of Java in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the Churro-misu Cold Brew combines Joffrey’s cold brew with tiramisu cold foam and comes with a churro.

Yes, a cold brew now comes with a churro. We’ve really stopped pretending we’re here for vegetables.

Energy Bytes at Magic Kingdom is getting the Churro Overdrive, featuring cookies-and-cream mini churros with blue sugar and marshmallow.

And if you’re visiting EPCOT, the Mission: SPACE Cart will be offering Family Churros: 21 bite-size churros served with sprinkles and chocolate and caramel dipping sauces.

Twenty-one churros.

Disney has apparently decided that churros now require a serving size.

Then Come the Frozen Drinks

Florida fall is a beautiful thing. The decorations come out, the pumpkins appear and the temperature occasionally remembers that it is supposed to be autumn.

Fortunately, Disney has prepared accordingly.

The Key Lime Dream is a frozen drink made with frozen limeade and key lime, topped with sweet cream and graham cracker crumbs.

You’ll find it at Studio Main Entrance Coffee at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Pinocchio Village Haus at Magic Kingdom, Regal Eagle Smokehouse Bar at EPCOT and Beaches Pool Bar & Grill at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

There are also plenty of other frozen creations making their way around the resort featuring flavors like peach, lemon, vanilla, passion fruit, orange and guava.

Basically, Disney looked at the Florida heat and said, “Fine. We’ll make it drinkable.”

And Yes, There Are Milkshakes

Because no Disney food announcement would be complete without something involving an unreasonable amount of sugar.

The fall lineup includes specialty milkshakes and frozen creations, including the Steamboat Willie Milkshake and a S’mores Gelato Milkshake.

And because Disney knows its audience, there are plenty of specialty beverages and cocktails mixed in as well.

Which means one person in your party can be debating whether to get a Mickey waffle, another can be holding a churro the size of their forearm and someone else can be standing there with a frozen cocktail wondering how exactly the family ended up here.

Honestly, sometimes that’s the real Disney vacation.

The Fall Food I’m Actually Watching

There are a lot of choices in this announcement, but a few immediately jumped out at me.

The Churro Strawberry Shortcake Sundae sounds like exactly the kind of ridiculous Disney snack that you see once, think about for three days and eventually convince yourself you absolutely need.

The Churro-misu Cold Brew is another one I’m watching closely. Coffee plus tiramisu plus a churro feels less like a beverage and more like Disney testing the limits of what we’re willing to call breakfast.

And don’t overlook the resort waffles and pancakes. If you’re staying at one of the value resorts, these new breakfast options could be a fun way to start a park day without having to make breakfast another complicated reservation on the itinerary.

Fall at Disney World Just Got a Lot Sweeter

What I like about this particular food announcement is that Disney isn’t putting everything in one location and calling it a seasonal menu.

These new treats are spread across the parks and resorts, which means you’ll have plenty of opportunities to stumble across something new while you’re already out exploring.

And let’s be honest: that’s one of the best parts of Disney World.

You can start the morning thinking you’re just going to grab a quick breakfast, somehow end up with birthday cake Mickey waffles, encounter a churro before noon, and then spend the afternoon carrying around a frozen drink because Florida has apparently decided it’s still July.

That’s fall at Disney World in 2026.

And I have a feeling my snack budget is not going to survive it.

And honestly, resort hopping is one of those things that gets overlooked when people plan Disney vacations.

Sometimes getting away from the crowds for an hour is exactly what your brain needs.

It Fits the Saratoga Springs Theme

Turf Club Lounge fits nicely into the resort’s overall equestrian and turn-of-the-century Saratoga Springs theme.

It’s not trying to compete with the fireworks.

You can visit EPCOT, wander around the World Showcase, exit through the International Gateway and walk over to the BoardWalk.

Guests can follow along with an animation instructor and learn how Disney artists bring characters to life.

It’s a particularly nice option for families because it’s interactive without requiring another ride, Lightning Lane reservation or 90-minute wait.

And let’s be honest: giving kids something creative to do in the middle of a theme park day is never a bad idea.

Once Upon a Studio Is Coming Too

The new area will also feature the Once Upon a Studio Theater.

Once Upon a Studio is Disney’s animated short celebrating the company’s animation history and bringing together characters from across Disney’s decades of animated films.

It’s essentially a giant love letter to Disney animation.

And for Disney history nerds, that alone makes the experience worth checking out.

Drawn to Wonderland

Another part of the new experience is Drawn to Wonderland, which takes guests into the world of Alice in Wonderland and explores how animation and storytelling come together.

It’s another example of Disney leaning into the process behind its animated films rather than simply putting characters in a room and calling it an experience.

And I’m perfectly fine with that.

There’s Also an Off the Page Experience

Guests will also encounter Off the Page, another interactive area connected to the world of animation.

The overall goal is to give guests a chance to see how ideas move from drawings and concepts into the animated characters and stories we recognize.

For younger guests, that can be a fun introduction to animation.

For adults who grew up watching Disney animation?

Well, let’s just say we’re probably going to spend a lot of time standing around looking at things and saying, “Oh my God, I remember that.”

When Does The Magic of Disney Animation Open?

The new experience officially opens at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on September 14, 2026.

That puts it on the calendar just as the fall travel season gets underway.

If you’re visiting Hollywood Studios after that date, you’ll have another option to add to your park itinerary.

Is It Worth Adding to Your Hollywood Studios Plan?

If you love Disney animation, absolutely.

Families with younger children should also keep it on their radar because the experiences are interactive and don’t revolve around a major attraction.

And because Hollywood Studios can be a difficult park to plan, having another experience available can help spread your day out.

You won’t necessarily want to build your entire Hollywood Studios strategy around it, but it’s a nice addition to the park.

Hollywood Studios Is Changing Again

It’s easy to forget just how much Hollywood Studios has changed over the last few years.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land dramatically reshaped the park, and now Disney is continuing to evolve other areas.

The Magic of Disney Animation gives Animation Courtyard a new identity while keeping animation at the heart of the area.

And considering this is Disney we’re talking about, that seems like a pretty appropriate use of the space.

The popular Toy Story Land coaster has experienced extended downtime and delayed openings, leaving some guests wondering whether their carefully planned rope-drop strategy is about to fall apart.

And when you’ve built your entire morning around one attraction, that’s not exactly the Disney magic you were hoping for.

Slinky Dog Dash Has Been Dealing With Downtime

Slinky Dog Dash experienced significant downtime on August 31 and continued to face operational issues into September 1.

The attraction’s unpredictable operating schedule has been particularly frustrating for guests who were hoping to ride early in the morning.

That’s because Slinky Dog Dash is one of the most popular attractions at Hollywood Studios—and one of the first rides many guests target when they enter the park.

Why Everyone Wants to Rope Drop Slinky

Slinky Dog Dash isn’t the biggest or fastest coaster at Walt Disney World.

But it is incredibly popular.

The attraction winds through Toy Story Land, giving guests a playful ride aboard a coaster designed to look like Andy’s Slinky Dog toy.

It’s family-friendly enough for a wide range of guests, which makes it particularly appealing to families traveling with kids.

And that popularity creates one giant problem.

Everybody wants to ride it.

Early Entry Doesn’t Guarantee a Ride

Guests staying at eligible Disney Resort hotels can enter Hollywood Studios early and head toward their first attraction.

That has made Slinky Dog Dash a popular Early Entry target.

But there’s an important distinction between getting into the park early and getting onto a specific attraction.

If Slinky isn’t operating when you arrive, you’re suddenly standing in Toy Story Land wondering what exactly you’re supposed to do next.

And the answer isn’t always obvious.

Have a Backup Plan

This is one of those situations where having a loose plan is much better than having a perfect plan.

If Slinky Dog Dash is your number-one priority, check its status in the My Disney Experience app as you approach Hollywood Studios.

If it’s temporarily unavailable, you have a decision to make.

You can wait.

Or you can move on to another attraction and come back later.

Personally, I’d rather keep moving.

Hollywood Studios has too many popular attractions to stand around staring at a closed Slinky Dog.

So What Should You Do Instead?

If Slinky isn’t running, consider heading toward another priority attraction.

Tower of Terror and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster are both popular choices, while Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is another attraction worth considering.

And if you’ve got little ones with you, Toy Story Land still has Toy Story Mania! and Alien Swirling Saucers.

In other words, you don’t have to spend the first hour of your vacation refreshing the app and hoping Slinky comes back online.

Don’t Assume a Posted Wait Time Means Everything Is Fine

Another thing to remember is that attraction operations can change quickly.

A ride may reopen after being temporarily unavailable, only to experience another delay.

That means the wait time you see isn’t necessarily a guarantee that your ride experience will go exactly according to plan.

Theme parks are giant machines with thousands of moving parts.

Sometimes one of those parts decides it needs a day off.

This Isn’t a Reason to Skip Hollywood Studios

It’s easy to get frustrated when a popular attraction isn’t operating.

But don’t let one ride dictate your entire day.

Hollywood Studios has plenty to offer, from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to Toy Story Land, Sunset Boulevard and Animation Courtyard.

If Slinky Dog Dash isn’t cooperating, go do something else.

Then check back later.

The Golden Rule of Disney World Planning

This is why I always tell people not to build a Disney vacation around one attraction.

Have priorities.

Absolutely.

Know what you really want to do.

Absolutely.

But leave yourself some wiggle room.

Because you can have the most beautifully color-coded Disney itinerary ever created, and Slinky Dog Dash can still wake up that morning and say, “Nope.”

And there’s not much you can do about that.

Keep an Eye on Slinky Dog Dash

With the attraction experiencing extended downtime and delayed openings this week, guests visiting Hollywood Studios should check the My Disney Experience app before making Slinky Dog Dash their first stop.

If it’s running, fantastic.

Get in line and enjoy your ride through Toy Story Land.

If it isn’t?

Don’t panic.

Have a backup plan, keep moving and come back later if you can.

Because the only thing worse than a broken Slinky Dog is letting a broken Slinky Dog ruin your entire Disney day.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is closing for refurbishment at Magic Kingdom this fall.

Disney has confirmed that the attraction will close beginning November 2, 2026.

And here’s the part that has everyone’s attention: Disney has not announced a reopening date.

The attraction will temporarily close as Disney carries out refurbishment work.

At this point, Disney hasn’t provided many details about exactly what work will be taking place.

We also don’t know how long the refurbishment will last.

So if you’re planning a Magic Kingdom visit after November 2, you’ll want to keep this one in mind.

And It’s Not Just the Ride

Two nearby merchandise locations will also close as part of the refurbishment.

Critter Co-Op and Tiana’s Bayou General will both be affected.

So if you’ve been planning to pick up some Tiana merchandise during a late-fall or winter trip, you may want to shop earlier in your vacation—or keep an eye out for another location carrying the merchandise.

Wait…Didn’t This Ride Just Open?

That’s probably going to be the first question from a lot of Disney fans.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure officially opened at Magic Kingdom in 2024 after replacing Splash Mountain.

So yes, it is still a relatively new attraction.

That makes a major refurbishment announcement feel a little surprising.

Disney attractions can, of course, undergo routine maintenance and refurbishment regardless of their age, particularly when an attraction involves complicated ride systems, water and a whole collection of Audio-Animatronics.

And Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has all three.

What Is Disney Fixing?

That’s the million-dollar question.

Disney hasn’t announced a specific list of changes or repairs.

So we’re not going to pretend we know what’s happening behind those construction walls.

For now, all we know is that the attraction is going down for refurbishment beginning November 2 and that there isn’t a confirmed reopening date.

And honestly, that’s enough reason to pay attention.

Should You Ride It Before November?

If Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is on your must-do list, I’d definitely make a point of riding it before the closure.

That’s especially true if you’re visiting Magic Kingdom in September or October.

There’s always the possibility that the attraction could remain closed longer than initially expected, and Disney hasn’t given us a timeline for its return.

In other words: don’t assume you’ll be able to ride it on your next winter vacation.

This Could Be a Good Thing

As disappointing as an attraction closure can be, refurbishment isn’t necessarily bad news.

Disneyland and Walt Disney World attractions are complicated machines operating thousands of hours every year.

Sometimes things need to be repaired.

Sometimes things need to be updated.

And sometimes Disney decides something needs a little more attention than guests ever realize.

I’d much rather see Disney take the time to properly maintain an attraction than leave it operating while problems pile up.

But the Mystery Is Interesting

The lack of a reopening date is what makes this particular refurbishment worth watching.

Disney will occasionally announce a closure without immediately providing a return date, particularly when the scope or timing of the work isn’t finalized.

That means we’ll have to wait for Disney to tell us more.

And you know Disney fans are going to spend that entire time speculating.

It’s practically a theme-park tradition.

What Should You Do If Tiana’s Is Closed?

If you’re visiting after November 2, don’t panic.

Magic Kingdom still has plenty of attractions to fill your day, including Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, Big Thunder Mountain, TRON Lightcycle / Run and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.

And if you’re visiting during the holiday season, you’ll also have seasonal entertainment and decorations competing for your attention.

You’ll survive.

Probably.

For Now, We Wait

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will close at Magic Kingdom on November 2, 2026.

Disney has not announced when the attraction will reopen.

Until we know more, the best advice is pretty simple: if you want to ride Tiana’s before the refurbishment, don’t wait until November.

And if you’ve got a Disney World trip planned for later this year, keep checking before you go.

After years of concept art, construction and enough speculation to fill the Seven Seas Lagoon, Disney has finally given us an opening date for its newest Walt Disney World Resort hotel.

Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge is scheduled to open July 1, 2027.

And Disney has also given us a much better look at what guests can expect when they finally get to check in.

Lakeshore Lodge Will Open in Summer 2027

The new resort will welcome its first guests on July 1, 2027, bringing another large-scale resort to Walt Disney World.

Lakeshore Lodge will feature 967 guest rooms, including everything from Duo Studios to three-bedroom Grand Villas.

And then there are the Lake Houses.

Because apparently a regular Disney hotel room wasn’t ambitious enough.

Yes, There Are Actual Houses

The Lake Houses are one of the most interesting pieces of Lakeshore Lodge.

These standalone accommodations will sit along the waterfront and offer a much larger vacation-home experience than a traditional hotel room.

They’re designed to take advantage of the resort’s natural surroundings, with views of the lake and plenty of space for larger groups.

If you’re traveling with extended family or a group of friends, these could be a pretty compelling option.

The Rooms Have a Very Different Disney Look

Disney’s first look at the guest rooms shows a design that’s considerably more nature-inspired than some of the resort’s other recent additions.

The rooms incorporate natural colors, wood tones and details inspired by the surrounding wetlands and Florida landscape.

It’s very different from walking into a room covered in giant Mickeys.

And honestly, I’m not mad about it.

Lakeshore Lodge Has a Pretty Fascinating History

There’s another reason Disney fans are likely to be fascinated by this resort.

Lakeshore Lodge is being built on the former site of Disney’s River Country, Walt Disney World’s first water park.

River Country opened in 1976 and eventually closed permanently in 2001.

For years, the abandoned property sat quietly along Bay Lake while Disney fans wondered what would eventually happen to it.

Now we know.

Instead of a forgotten piece of Disney history, the property is about to become one of the newest vacation destinations at Walt Disney World.

The Resort Is Built Around the Waterfront

The name Lakeshore Lodge isn’t exactly subtle.

Water and the surrounding natural landscape are major parts of the resort’s design.

Guests will find recreation areas, walking paths and spaces designed to make the most of the waterfront setting.

One of the areas Disney has highlighted is the wetlands, which will incorporate the natural environment into the guest experience.

And that’s something I really like about this project.

It doesn’t sound like Disney is trying to build another giant resort that could exist anywhere.

This one is supposed to feel connected to the property it’s sitting on.

There’s Going to Be Plenty of Food

Of course, this is Disney World.

We were never going to get a 967-room resort without food.

Lakeshore Lodge will feature several dining options, including both table-service and quick-service choices, along with lounges and places to grab something while you’re exploring the resort.

Disney hasn’t revealed every detail yet, so there’s still plenty more to learn about the dining lineup.

Club Level Will Be Available

For guests who like their Disney vacation with a few extra perks, Lakeshore Lodge will also offer Club Level accommodations.

That means guests will have another option when deciding just how fancy they want to make this particular Disney vacation.

Because apparently there are now approximately 47 different ways to stay at Walt Disney World.

This Is One Disney Resort I’m Going to Be Watching Closely

I’ve always thought the former River Country property was one of the more fascinating pieces of unused Disney World real estate.

Now we’re finally getting to see what Disney has planned for it.

Lakeshore Lodge is shaping up to be a very different kind of Disney Resort—one that leans heavily into nature, waterfront views and the history of the property.

And because it opens in 2027, we’ve still got plenty of time to watch the whole thing come together.

Which is good.

Because you know we’re going to be watching.
