If you’ve ever arrived at Walt Disney World with checked luggage, you know the drill.

Get off the plane.

Find baggage claim.

Wait.

Wait some more.

Finally wrestle your suitcase onto transportation and drag it into your Disney resort.

Well, guests staying at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort just got a way to skip part of that nonsense.

Disney’s Airport Luggage Transfer service has officially expanded to Caribbean Beach, making it the first Moderate Resort to participate in the program.

What Is Airport Luggage Transfer?

The service allows eligible guests to have their checked luggage transported between Orlando International Airport and their participating Disney Resort hotel.

That means you can bypass the traditional “stand at baggage claim and stare at the carousel” portion of your vacation.

Because honestly, the vacation should start when you land.

Caribbean Beach Is the First Moderate Resort

Until now, Airport Luggage Transfer had been available at Disney’s Value Resorts.

Caribbean Beach is now the first Moderate Resort added to the program.

That could be especially handy at Caribbean Beach because the resort is enormous.

It’s spread across multiple villages, and nobody wants to haul a giant suitcase any farther than absolutely necessary after a flight.

Which Resorts Are Participating?

With Caribbean Beach joining the program, the current list includes six participating Walt Disney World Resort hotels:

• Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort
• Disney’s All-Star Music Resort
• Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort
• Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
• Disney’s Pop Century Resort
• Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort

That makes Caribbean Beach the first Moderate Resort on the list.

There’s a Catch

Of course there is.

This isn’t Disney saying, “Everyone throw your suitcases into the magical luggage portal.”

The service is only available to guests staying at participating resorts and flying with a participating airline.

Disney also notes that guests can use the service for their arrival, departure or both.

So if you’re eligible, you don’t necessarily have to use it for the entire trip.

What Happens to Your Bags?

The idea is pretty simple.

Your checked luggage is transferred between the airport and your Disney Resort hotel, allowing you to continue on with your vacation without having to personally drag those bags through the airport and resort transportation process.

Disney also provides a way to track your luggage during the trip.

And yes, you can still keep the things you don’t want separated from you—like strollers, car seats and other items you need immediately.

This Could Be Especially Handy for Caribbean Beach

I’m particularly interested in this one because Caribbean Beach isn’t exactly a tiny resort where you can stumble three feet from the lobby to your room.

The resort covers a lot of ground.

And while the Skyliner is fantastic, it’s not exactly designed for hauling a mountain of luggage around.

Being able to leave the airport without your checked bags could make arrival day considerably easier.

Does This Mean More Moderate Resorts Could Be Next?

Disney hasn’t announced a broader expansion to the other Moderate Resorts.

But Caribbean Beach joining the program is notable because it shows the service is moving beyond the Value Resort category.

Whether Disney eventually expands Airport Luggage Transfer to resorts such as Port Orleans, Coronado Springs or other Moderate and Deluxe properties remains to be seen.

For now, Caribbean Beach guests get to be the test case.

A Small Perk That Could Make a Big Difference

Airport luggage delivery isn’t exactly the sort of Disney announcement that gets people screaming.

There are no roller coasters involved.

No Audio-Animatronics.

No giant villain castle.

But for the person who has just spent three hours on an airplane with a cranky toddler, a tired spouse and four suitcases?

This could be the best Disney news of the week.

Anything that gets you from Orlando International Airport to your Disney vacation with fewer bags in tow is worth paying attention to.

And if you’re staying at Caribbean Beach, you now have one less thing to worry about when you land.

Your suitcase can take a little Disney vacation of its own.
