If you’ve been missing Grand Floridian Café, I have some very good news.
Well…mostly good news.
Disney’s Grand Floridian Café appears to be coming back on November 2, 2026, after spending several months closed for refurbishment. Disney hasn’t actually issued a big announcement saying, “Hey everyone, Grand Floridian Café is reopening November 2!”
Instead, Disney did what Disney sometimes does and quietly let the dining reservation calendar do the talking.
November 2 Is the Date to Circle
Grand Floridian Café has been closed since July 20, 2026, as part of a refurbishment that Disney originally said would keep the restaurant closed through October.
Now, guests can make dining reservations beginning November 2.
The reservation system is also showing dinner hours beginning that day, which is a pretty strong indication that Disney is targeting November 2 as the reopening date.
So while I wouldn’t engrave the date on a commemorative plaque just yet, November 2 is looking very, very real.
And considering we’re talking about Disney World, where refurbishment schedules can occasionally have all the stability of a toddler with a Mickey ice cream bar, I’ll still leave a tiny bit of room for the date to change.
Why Has Grand Floridian Café Been Closed So Long?
This hasn’t been a quick little “close it for a few days and slap on some fresh paint” project.
Grand Floridian Café has been undergoing a multi-month refurbishment, and the restaurant’s closure has been part of the larger collection of updates happening around Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.
Disney’s official information says the café is closed from mid-July through October for refurbishment. Other areas of the Grand Floridian are also continuing to receive renovations, including work around the covered entrance that is expected to continue into early 2027.
So if you’re visiting the Grand Floridian right now, don’t be surprised if you see a little construction activity around the resort.
Because apparently even one of Disney World’s fanciest resorts occasionally needs a little maintenance.
Grand Floridian Café Is a Pretty Big Deal to Some Disney Fans
I’ll admit it: Grand Floridian Café doesn’t get the same attention as Victoria & Albert’s, Narcoossee’s or Cítricos.
It’s not supposed to.
That’s actually part of its charm.
Grand Floridian Café has traditionally been the more relaxed table-service option at the resort. It’s elegant without being stuffy, and it’s a place where you can sit down for a meal without feeling like you’ve just committed to a three-hour dining experience.
It’s also incredibly convenient if you’re spending time at Magic Kingdom.
You can leave the park, hop on the monorail or take the walking path over to the Grand Floridian, have a proper meal, enjoy a little air conditioning and then decide whether you have enough energy to go back and fight the crowds.
That makes it especially useful on those long Magic Kingdom days when everyone in your group has reached the “I don’t care where we eat, just feed me” stage.
Brunch Has Been Moved to Cítricos
Disney didn’t completely leave Grand Floridian guests without a brunch option while the café has been closed.
During the refurbishment, brunch has temporarily moved over to Cítricos.
Disney’s current information lists that temporary arrangement through October, giving guests staying at the Grand Floridian another option while they wait for the café to return.
It’s a slightly fancier place to grab brunch than Grand Floridian Café, but hey, if Disney wants to tell me that brunch at Cítricos is an acceptable consolation prize, I’m not going to argue.
What Will Grand Floridian Café Look Like When It Reopens?
And here’s where I’m getting curious.
Disney hasn’t provided a detailed preview of exactly what guests should expect from the refurbishment.
That’s what makes the November reopening particularly interesting.
Is Disney simply refreshing the restaurant while keeping the existing look and feel? Are we getting a more substantial update? Will there be changes to the dining room, décor or menu?
Right now, we don’t have all those answers.
And honestly, I’m okay with that.
Sometimes it’s more fun to walk into a refurbished Disney restaurant and see what’s changed instead of having every detail spoiled six months ahead of time.
November Is Actually a Pretty Great Time to Bring It Back
The timing of this potential reopening is interesting because November is when Walt Disney World starts shifting into full holiday mode.
The parks are getting busier, the Christmas decorations are going up and the Grand Floridian becomes one of those places people visit specifically because they want to soak up the holiday atmosphere.
Having Grand Floridian Café back in the mix would give guests another casual dining option right when the resort is about to get very busy.
And let’s be honest: there are worse things than having dinner at the Grand Floridian and then wandering through the lobby looking at the Christmas decorations.
Actually, I’m struggling to think of many.
So, Can You Start Planning for November 2?
Yes—with a small asterisk.
I’d absolutely keep November 2 on your Disney planning radar. Reservations are already appearing for that date, and the timing lines up with Disney’s previously announced refurbishment window.
But because Disney hasn’t separately announced November 2 as the official reopening date, I’d still treat it as the current target rather than a guarantee.
If you’re visiting in November or later, though, this is definitely a restaurant worth watching.
One More Grand Floridian Favorite Is Coming Back
Grand Floridian Café may not be the flashiest restaurant at Walt Disney World, but that’s exactly why a lot of Disney fans love it.
It’s comfortable. It’s relatively relaxed. It’s beautiful without requiring you to make an entire event out of dinner.
And after being closed since July, its return will be a welcome one.
So for now, I’m putting November 2 on the calendar—with the traditional Disney-sized asterisk.
If everything stays on schedule, Grand Floridian Café should be ready to welcome guests back just as Disney World heads into one of the most magical—and busiest—times of the year.
And I’ll be very interested to see what Disney has been doing in there all these months.
